Château Lynch-Bages Pauillac 2020 is the flagship wine of this renowned Fifth Growth estate from the 1855 Classification, located on the gravelly plateau of Bages in Bordeaux’s Médoc. With 100 hectares of vineyards planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the estate is ideally situated on deep gravel ridges over limestone and sand. These soils, combined with Pauillac’s maritime climate, provide exceptional drainage and stress that encourage vines to produce grapes of great concentration and structure.
The 2020 vintage benefited from careful vineyard management and precise parcel selection, with harvesting carried out by hand and grapes sorted rigorously before vinification. Each plot was vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, allowing tailored fermentations that captured the nuances of the terroir. Extraction was carefully monitored, with maceration and pump-overs adapted to preserve balance while achieving depth and density.
Aging took place in French oak barrels, the majority new, for around 18 months. This élevage harmonized the structural power of Cabernet Sauvignon with the roundness of Merlot and the aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Blending after maturation focused on creating a wine that reflects both the richness of the vintage and the estate’s signature style—powerful, structured, and built to age. The 2020 release continues Château Lynch-Bages’ legacy as one of Pauillac’s most respected and consistent estates, combining traditional Médoc craftsmanship with modern precision.
