Herradura - Tequila Silver is made from 100% Blue Weber agave cultivated in Jalisco, harvested only when fully mature. Piñas are slow‑cooked to convert inulin into fermentable sugars, then crushed to release the sweet juice.

Fermentation proceeds in stainless steel tanks with natural or selected yeasts before the wash is distilled, typically twice, in copper pot stills or stainless steel columns. For reposado and añejo styles, the spirit rests in oak barrels, where it develops additional complexity while keeping agave character at the forefront.

Production is carried out with respect for tradition and modern quality standards, yielding a tequila that reflects discipline and heritage.

Herradura Tequila

Herradura is one of Mexico’s most historic and respected tequila houses, with roots going back to 1870 in Amatitán, Jalisco—the cradle of tequila. The brand’s name, meaning “horseshoe” in Spanish, comes from a legend that a lucky horseshoe was found on the hacienda grounds and adopted as the estate’s symbol. That imagery of luck, heritage, and craftsmanship has followed Herradura ever since, helping it become a benchmark name in tequila both in Mexico and internationally.

What sets Herradura apart is its commitment to traditional production methods while scaling them to a modern audience. The tequila is made entirely from 100% blue Weber agave, which is slow-cooked in clay ovens, then fermented naturally with wild airborne yeasts, a process that gives Herradura its distinctive character. Distillation is done in copper stills, preserving a rich, authentic agave profile. For its aged expressions, the brand uses American oak barrels, creating tequilas that are smooth, complex, and often pioneers in their category.

Herradura has a history of innovation within tradition. It is credited with introducing the world’s first Reposado tequila in 1974, a category that has since become one of the most popular styles globally. The house is also known for its Añejo and Selección Suprema Extra Añejo, showcasing the elegance and depth that tequila can achieve with careful aging. Despite its global recognition, Herradura has maintained production at its original hacienda in Amatitán, one of the oldest tequila-producing estates still in operation.

As a brand, Herradura represents authenticity, heritage, and a pioneering spirit. It has become synonymous with craftsmanship and quality, balancing rustic, time-honored methods with a reputation for innovation. To drink Herradura is to experience not only the flavor of Jalisco’s agave but also over 150 years of tequila-making history rooted in Mexican culture and tradition.
