Ridgemont Reserve

Ridgemont Reserve is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey that has undergone a few name changes throughout its history. It is produced by the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, which has been owned by the Sazerac Company since 2009.

When the brand was first introduced in 2002, it was named "Ridgewood Reserve 1792." However, this led to a lawsuit from the Brown-Forman Corporation, which argued that the name and bottle design were too similar to its well-established Woodford Reserve brand. As a result, the name was changed to "1792 Ridgemont Reserve."

Over time, the brand streamlined its name to simply "1792 Bourbon," which is what it is most commonly known as today. The number 1792 is a significant part of its identity, as it commemorates the year that Kentucky was officially granted statehood. The brand is positioned as a premium, small-batch bourbon, and it is known for its high rye content in the mash bill, which contributes to a distinct, spicy character. It is celebrated for offering a bold and complex flavor profile with notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak, balanced by the peppery spice of the rye.
