Clos de l’Oratoire Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2020 comes from a 10-hectare estate located on the northeastern slopes of Saint-Émilion, where limestone and clay soils provide an exceptional foundation for Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Owned by Stephan von Neipperg, also proprietor of several other celebrated right bank estates, Clos de l’Oratoire is recognized for combining Saint-Émilion’s traditional elegance with modern precision.

The vineyard is farmed with meticulous attention to detail, using sustainable methods and selective hand harvesting to ensure only the finest fruit reaches the cellar. Each parcel is vinified separately in temperature-controlled vats, allowing fermentations and macerations to be tailored to the needs of the individual plots. This precise approach preserves the purity of fruit while building the structure and depth expected of a Grand Cru.

The 2020 vintage was aged in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of them new, for about 18 months. This élevage integrates the richness of Merlot with the aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc, while enhancing complexity and longevity. The final blend reflects both the estate’s distinctive terroir and its philosophy of balance, producing a wine that stands alongside the finest expressions of Saint-Émilion.
