Seña

Seña is an iconic Chilean wine brand and a powerful symbol of the country's rise as a producer of world-class, ultra-premium wines. The brand was founded in 1995 as a groundbreaking joint venture between two visionary winemakers: the Chilean Eduardo Chadwick of Viña Errázuriz and the American icon Robert Mondavi. Their shared goal was to create a wine that would demonstrate Chile's potential to produce a "First Growth"-level wine from a unique terroir.

The brand's identity is rooted in its exclusive, single-vineyard estate in the Aconcagua Valley, located approximately 40 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. The name "Seña" translates to "sign" or "signal," a name chosen to signify to the world that Chile was capable of producing a wine with a distinct sense of place and elegance that could rival the most prestigious wines of Europe.

Seña is a Bordeaux-style red blend, with a dominant base of Cabernet Sauvignon and a significant portion of Carmenere, the latter of which gives the wine a distinctly Chilean character. The blend is rounded out with other Bordeaux varietals like Malbec and Petit Verdot. The vineyard has been managed using biodynamic farming practices since 2005, a testament to the brand's commitment to sustainability and expressing the unique qualities of its terroir.

The wine is celebrated for its elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness. It is known for a nuanced profile of red and black fruits, balanced by herbal and spicy notes, and framed by refined tannins. Since 2005, the brand has been solely owned by the Chadwick family, with Eduardo Chadwick continuing to lead the project and cement its position as a benchmark for Chilean fine wine.
