Sterling Vineyards

Sterling Vineyards is a well-known Napa Valley winery with a brand identity that combines iconic architecture, a commitment to quality, and a history of innovation. Founded in 1964 by Peter Newton, an English expatriate, the winery was one of the first to produce Bordeaux-inspired red wines in California and is credited with bottling the first vintage-dated Merlot in the state in 1969.

The brand's philosophy is rooted in producing wines that are a pure expression of their varietal character, and it does so by sourcing grapes from vineyards across various prestigious Napa Valley sub-appellations.

Beyond the wine itself, Sterling's brand is distinguished by its unique visitor experience. The winery building, with its white stucco and bell towers, is modeled after the architecture of the Greek island of Mykonos. Most famously, it is the only winery in the world with an aerial tram that transports visitors from the parking lot to the tasting room, offering panoramic views of the Napa Valley. This distinctive feature has made Sterling Vineyards a popular destination and a major part of its brand identity.

Today, Sterling Vineyards is owned by Treasury Wine Estates, but it continues to uphold its legacy of crafting a diverse portfolio of wines, from its value-focused Vintner's Collection to its premium estate and single-vineyard releases.
